Istech Web Design built the new website for Carlow Public Participation Network (Carlow PPN), bringing together information for community groups across County Carlow. The project provides a local example of a community organisation website with separate routes to membership information, representation and resources.
Visit the live website: www.carlowppn.ie.
Carlow PPN brings together community and voluntary, social inclusion and environmental groups in the county. The network supports communication between groups and community participation in local decision-making. Its website explains the organisation’s role, how the network is organised and how eligible groups can get involved.
The live website gives visitors distinct sections for different information needs:
For a community website, these are different visitor tasks. A prospective member needs joining information, while an existing group may be looking for a funding notice or an event. Grouping content around those tasks gives the project a practical structure beyond a single stream of news.

Start with the questions your members and visitors ask most often. Agree which information needs a permanent page, which items belong in news or events, and who will approve and update them. Plan how older notices and documents will be reviewed so visitors can identify what is current.
Our guide to planning a community organisation website in Carlow covers menus, documents, forms, updates and handover. If you are preparing a project, contact Istech with your current website address, main audiences, required pages and any forms or document collections you need to include.
